We're Getting There...
Some of my recent pub credits:
- Over the summer, got an Honorable Mention in the Writers of the Future contest for my science fiction short story "Origami."
Am excited about this because, in reading a recent anthology of Writers of the Future winners, learned that most of the winners submitted repeatedly over the years, and started with Honorable Mentions, moving up to Semi-Finalist and Finalist status before they finally won. So I am taking this as an encouraging sign.
- I've had numerous non-fiction articles published online since July '09, primarily on sailing topics. They've been a lot of fun to write.
- I've written a semi-autobiographical chapter for a healthcare textbook called "Why the World Needs Nurses." (And been paid for it, wheee!) (Not that I'm a nurse. You'll just have to read it, someday, to find out why!)
- Am writing every day now, for my non-fiction writing business, and have written well over 100,000 words FOR PAY since March '09. So even though I've yet to be paid for my speculative fiction (my dream), I'm not giving up!
